We began developing our homemade dog treats after realizing that, although Bubba and Bucky were eating healthy main meals, their favorite dog biscuits included chemicals and preservatives we did not want them to have as part of their diets—especially because Bubba had epilepsy, and the fewer man-made chemicals and preservatives he ingested, the better. It took some trial and error, but the result was a chemical-and-preservative-free dog biscuit that Bubba and Bucky loved even more than their previous daily munchies—and with no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. And, as an additional benefit, Bucky’s bad breath cleared up, and neither dog was pestered with fleas as they had been in previous years.
